La Instructora is a brand of cigars that you may not have heard of, but rest assured, these are cigars that rival even the biggest brands. Behind everything is the vision of the creator, Jochy Blanc, based in the Dominican Republic. The cigars themselves are produced at Tabacalera Palma, one of the oldest and most respected factories in the Dominican Republic, founded in 1936 by Jochy's grandfather, José Arnaldo Blanco. Over the years, Tabacalera Palma has built a reputation for producing high quality cigars that combine traditional craftsmanship with innovative blending techniques.
What sets La Instructora cigars apart is their unique blend and solid construction, and the brand aims to create a smoking experience that is sophisticated yet accessible, reflecting Jochy's dedication to quality and his deep understanding of tobacco. Each cigar in the La Instructora line is carefully crafted using premium tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and other renowned regions, ensuring a rich and satisfying experience for cigar lovers.
La Instructora Delicado Robusto
At first glance, La Instructora Delicado is a visually stunning cigar adorned with a gold-beige label. The cigar has an oily, medium brown Connecticut wrapper with a slight reddish tinge, indicating a well-fermented leaf. The wrapper is smooth with minimal veins that contribute to the elegant appearance of the cigar, and given that it is quite "filled" with Dominican filler, it conveys a feeling of solidity and equality from head to toe.
Before lighting, there is a faint smell of cedar, and the cool draw after cutting provides perfect resistance. Although very well filled, the cigar is not too heavy to pull, but soft to the touch.
After the first lighting, a mixture of cedar and pepper is felt. Notes of leather and sweet spices appear in parts, and the burn is razor sharp. It holds the ash firmly, proving the quality of the cigar. The first drop is after approx. 35 minutes.

In the second third, the cigar certainly continues to impress. The strength stabilizes creating a well-balanced smoking experience. Although characterized as a mild cigar, the flavor profile develops over time along with cedar and pepper and indicates a medium body cigar. Towards the end, rich notes of leather are felt, and the subtle sweetness that we encounter already in the first third is now reminiscent of fruity notes and permeates through the smoke.

The last third of the cigar brings deeper flavors. The elements of leather and nuts become more prominent, and the mild strength of the cigar gradually increases, moving towards medium strength. The combustion remains flawless, requiring no re-ignitions.
La Instructora Delicado Robusto
In short, this is a masterfully crafted cigar that provides a very complex and rewarding smoking experience. From the visually appealing wrapper to the craftsmanship and rich, complex flavor profile, this cigar is an absolute favorite this summer. It is suitable for beginners who want to explore more complex cigars, but also for experienced cigar lovers who appreciate quality craftsmanship. Highly recommended for those looking for a pleasant smoking experience. This time we paired it with Joško Vitaljić's Mali Plavec from the island of Vis, which perfectly complemented the cigar's rich spicy notes. If you're going with a non-alcoholic option, a dark roast coffee would be a great accompaniment. Rating 9/10.
